In what is a little bit of a strange cause for campaigning, the County Manager of Roscommon is calling for all pedestrians walking at night to wear high-visibility vests as he claims that not doing so makes them akin to a car driving without headlights.
Frank Dawson was speaking at the Joint Policing Committee at which the County Councils Road Safety Committee presented the safety plan. However most people recognise that it will be very difficult to convince people to wear these vests at night, especially in more built up and well lit areas.
However Dawson will still take the proposal forward and submit it to members of the County Council. The proposal received unanimous support at the conference.
