For chatting on his mobile phone while driving his flash Porsche along a busy road, Micah Richards has been fined £600.

The Manchester City and England footballer, 22, did not appear in court and pleaded guilty by letter.

While at the wheel of his white four-wheel-drive Porsche Cayenne, Richards was clocked by police taking a call on his mobile.

He originally denied the offence and a trial was set for later this month, Manchester magistrates were told.

But celebrity lawyer Nick Freeman – dubbed Mr Loophole – sent the court a letter indicating his change of plea.

Along with £65 prosecution costs and a £15 surcharge, to be paid within 14 days defender Richards, of Bowdon, Cheshire, had three penalty points put on his licence.

Mr Freeman gave no explanation for the incident in his letter.
