A court has heard that a number of driving instructors and driving test examiners took £1,000 bribes to hand passes to failed driving test candidates.
Nick Madigan, a test examiner in London, and another examiner who can't be named would sometimes hand learners their test certificate without ever taking them out on the road.
Candidates were allegedly put forward by driving instructors Salima Rashid, Sofia Rasool, and Jasvinder Rai. Amongst those who bought the pass was a Community Support Officer. Police are looking for a group that term "introducers", who tracked down driving test candidates who had failed the test previously.
Rashid, Rasool and Rai all deny conspiracy to commit bribery. Rai denies a further count of conspiracy to commit bribery. Madigan and the unnamed examiner are not before the jury.
