For drifting a car for the longest distance at its Mercedes-Benz World in Surrey, Mercedes is set to break the world record. Driving instructor and racing driver Mauro Calo will attempt to drift either a C 63 or E 63 AMG for 10,000ft, about 1.9 miles.
Calo will beat the current record by 2,000ft if he is successful. He will make the attempt on the narrow ring circuit at Mercedes-Benz World, which is not much wider than the car is long.
However, Calo is up for the challenge and said: "I'm 100 per cent confident that I can do it."
Breaking the record will require Calo to drift for more than four minutes continuously, completing 12 laps of the circuit at around 60mph.
