Drivers and Driving Instructors in Lincoln Complain About Road Works
Posted: 08 February 2011465 Days ago

Drivers and driving instructors in Lincoln have complained about roadworks began to repair gas lines, claiming that the obstructions are making it difficult to get around.

Delays have stretched back several miles from the work site, which runs along one of the city's main roads, causing delays of up to an hour for some trying to drive just a few miles.

Driving instructor Steve Park commented "I was out the other evening and there was traffic queuing from Skellingthorpe roundabout right up to Tritton Road. It's the challenge of getting from A to B which has been a pain. Once you start to get road closures on routes that are mainly through-routes, you then get people who know the roads taking the short cuts, which in turn makes those roads very busy as well."

Driver Molly Smith, 31 also stated "I have faced a wall of traffic every morning for the past few days and because I travel in from Brant Road, it doesn't matter if I try to get in to town via Newark Road or via Rookery Lane and Tritton Road. The queues have been horrendous. My 20-minute journey has been taking twice as long at both ends of the day and it is just so frustrating."
