Drivers who have found themselves easing their foot off the accelerator a little more than usual recently might find they are not alone.

50 percent motorists have been made to drop their speed by the ongoing crisis which is affecting household expenditure, claims research conducted by Manheim Auctions.
There are other ways in which the customers are trying to save money.
"When the time comes to change their car it seems that more are also considering a secondhand car as increased demand for smaller, fuel efficient vehicles at auctions demonstrates," said marketing director for the fim, Craig Mailey.
Mr Mailey added that a growing number of people are now "thinking twice" before getting in their vehicle, with alternatives such as shopping online and working from home being considered.
