A driving instructor is to run the Edinburgh marathon in May, with all of the money he raises intended to go to the British Heart Foundation.
Paul Benson, aged 42, runs a driving school in Middleton and has chosen the charity because it is very close to his heart.
Paul, originally from Morley, comments "There were six in our household, including my mum, Maureen who died in 1997. My dad, Richard, died suddenly from heart failure in 1986 at the age of 50, when I was just 17 years old. I also had two brothers, one who died, and a sister."
His family's medical history convinced him to live healthier and he comments "I was 16-and-a-half stone and it got me thinking at the time that I don’t want to stay unhealthy because of what happened to dad, so I started to diet by simply eating more healthily.
"As the weight started to come off, I started jogging and dropped to 12-and-a-half stone through determination."
