'Driving on safest UK roads' car insurance policyholders

Car insurance customers have been told on the fact that the UK has some of the safest roads it has ever seen.

Director of policy and research at the Institute of Advanced Motorists, Neil Greig, pointed out that 2,222 people died on the country's road network last year.

Since records began, this is the lowest figure, acknowledged Mr Greig, which could illustrate the success of the UK's road safety today.

"We're one of the top countries in the whole of the world for fewest road deaths. In general terms, things have been going quite well," he explained.

However, the expert noted that one current concern is the fact that there is a slight lack of direction by the government when it comes to road safety, an issue which could be addressed to help those with
car insurance.

Though there are plans in place to aid drivers in the UK, with one initiative being to give police the power to hand out on-the-spot fines to those who undertake dangerous manoeuvres while behind the wheel.
