A former driving instructor has claimed that she feels insulted by a driving school which has been offering elderly drivers in Colchester area free driving lessons and safety assessments.
The driving school made its offer after it was revealed that 87 year old Colin Horsfall struck and killed a teenager after veering onto a pavement while driving.
Ann May, who used to be a driving instructor and refused to give her full age, said "It is an insult to senior citizens.
"Training elderly drivers may help, but it’s just not the case all senior citizens’ driving standards deteriorate.
"When I go out in the car, I don’t get hassled by senior citizens. The problem is boys in small hatchbacks. The people the driving school needs to aim for are teenagers and those in their early twenties."
