Wigan Council are offering free driving lesson refresher courses to over 50's in an attempt to ensure the area's more mature drivers are given the best advice in staying up to date with more recent driving practices.
The courses are aimed at those who passed their driving tests more than 30 years ago and feel the need for a little bit of a brush up on their skills. Officers have been delighted with the response to previous sessions and are hoping for more of the same with the latest one.
The council’s environment champion, Cllr David Molyneux, said "We are addressing road safety across many groups – high visibility jackets for children, education for the next generation of drivers, and a chance for anyone to go on the driving simulator at our public exhibitions. But I know how popular the mature drivers’ sessions are, and want to thank those who have completed the course."
