Throughout autumn, drivers need to be extra vigilant about the safety of their cars.
A number of tips to help those getting behind the wheel for maintain their vehicles in the coming months were provided by Simon Elstow, head of training at driver training specialist IAM Drive & Survive
According to him, leaves on roads can prove dangerous and it is important for people to "avoid hard acceleration or braking as it can cause skidding. And be aware that there may be a dip, pothole or other road hazard hiding under those leaves covering the road".
He suggested that people clean out plenum chambers, the area below the windscreen and under the bonnet, as it can cause harm to a car's electrics when it is blocked with leaves.
