A driving instructor may have to face up to the prospect that his career is ruined after a terrible road accident left him with a broken neck, broken back and nerve and muscle damage.
Vance Johnson has been unable to resume his work giving driving lessons after the crash, in which he was riding in a convoy with motorcyclists. One of the bikers decided to overtake the convey, but rode into the path of a milk tanker.
Carl Denton then swerved back into the convoy, forcing Vance off the road and knocking he and his wife from the bike. Vance got tangled up in Denton's bike and was dragged along the road when Denton refused to stop.
The driving instructor commented "It was horrific, I thought I was going to die. He knew I was attached to the bike but he didn't stop - he even looked down at me and continued riding. I could smell my flesh burning as I was being dragged along. Bikes have been my life and I cannot believe a fellow motorcyclist would do what he did to me - it has sickened me."
