The DSA from Monday, 16 May, will be making improvements to the way that motorcycle-related incidents are recorded, reported and dealt with. This mainly affects DSA staff processes get affected by this and also amends existing Approved Training Bodies’ (ATBs’) responsibilities.
To make sure the right level of support is given to those individuals involved in serious or major incidents, this revised procedure should allow the DSA. More robust recording will allow the agency to establish any lessons learned which could help to develop improvements to procedures in the future.
It will cover a range of motorcycle activities including both off-road and on-road testing and training.
For incidents taking place off road, during:
· Module 1 testing
· Approved Training Bodies (ATB) activities on an motorcycle manoeuvring area (MMA)
· Compulsory Basic Training (CBT) activity at an ATB site
· Direct Access Scheme (DAS) activity at an ATB site
For incidents taking place on road, during:
· Module 2 testing
· Any motorcycle incident involving a member of staff on DSA business
· CBT training during element E
· DAS training
For register of post-test motorcycle training or enhanced rider scheme, the revised procedure does not cover training activities.
