Carys and Mari Stephens, 17, passed their theory test on the same day – and have now passed their driving tests within an hour of each other.
Through their school years the identical twins have had similar achievements and are both studying for the same three A-levels at Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy in Llanrwst, where their mum Linda is a teacher. By taking teaching courses at Chester College they both want to follow in her footsteps .
“We do everything together, but we were quite surprised when we passed our tests on the same day. Carys is a bit more confident as a driver than I am because I’ve been a passenger in a car when it was involved in an accident so I thought she might pass before me. I was very pleased when the examiner said I’d passed,” said Mari.
The girls both work as waitresses at the Afon Conwy pub at Glan Conwy which helped them to pay for their driving lessons with Craig-y-Don instructor Trevor Young.
Carys and Mari Stephens were second set of twins he’s helped pass their tests on the same day, and he says he was quietly confident that Carys and Mari would be successful. “They’ve been great fun to teach. They’re lovely girls and have tried hard with their driving,” he commented.
