Prospective Driving Instructor Held up by Job Centre Delays
Posted: 28 March 2011417 Days ago

A new driving instructor is claiming that delayed payments from the job centre has left him unable to launch his own driving school after they promised to provide him with funding to get it off the ground.

Rae Parry had been all set to start his own driving school with the help of the Job Centre Plus, who were going to give him £50 for 16 weeks to help him get up and running. However he never received his first payment, leaving him with no money to buy petrol or take on a contract with BSM.

He commented "I know I was running a tight ship and £50 won’t seem like much to most people, but it was going to enable me to start my business.

"I had a contract with BSM to train soldiers, so I was planning on doing that for a month or two and then ploughing the cash I made back into my company.

"But I need petrol to get down to the barracks in Catterick, North Yorkshire, but that never came so I couldn’t start last Monday.

"So I’ve lost the chance to take on a new job and now I owe BSM £138 for every week I miss, and all because I wasn’t paid on time."
