Record failure by Scot learner driver

An uncomplimentary reputation of being Scotland's worst has been garnered by a learner driver after failing his test 26 times.

The forty four year old learner driver who remains undisclosed has spent more than £1600 on tests alone in Anniesland, Glasgow.

His failed attempts remain high on the tally of fails in the written exam in Scotland since Driving Standards Agency records began in 2004.

In Anniesland, a 29-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man from the city's Springburn each failed the same test 22 times - at a cost of at least £900.

Notorious bad drivers such as Maureen Rees, from BBC's Driving School, who passed on her seventh attempt, and rocker Ozzy Osbourne, who needed 19 tests to pass become relief compared to their woeful efforts.

After failing her theory test 90 times, a 26-year-old woman from London was named Britain's worst learner driver this year, while the highest number in the UK  goes to a  39-year-old man from the West Midlands has tried and failed 36 times to pass his practical test.
