Before a big match, a rising Russian tennis star drove over the limit just 12 hours.
Stephanie Cornish, 19, who is ranked 30th in the UK, went on to win her game at the East of England Championships earlier this month.
She pleaded guilty to driving while more than twice the legal limit but said she moved the car a few yards “just to park it”.
“I only had a few drinks. I’m an athlete and quite small. I wasn’t aware I was over the limit,” added Cornish.
She was caught in Ipswich in the early hours of July 7, town magistrates heard.
For 12 months, district judge David Cooper disqualified Cornish, of South West London, and fined her £300.
She had 76mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.
