More than a third of women believe they are likely to get ripped off by car dealers, while almost half say they are patronised by men trying to sell them cars.
According to a survey by car retailer Quicks, based on responses from 1,000 women motorists, a total of 43 per cent of women said they feel patronised by car showroom dealers and nearly a third said they hate visiting them.
More than 40 per cent of women would not buy a car from a dealer unless they were accompanied by a male family member or friend, the survey revealed.
More than a quarter said they felt uncomfortable looking round a dealership with a salesman, while a third believed they were not taken seriously by dealers.
